Who is behind the project
Martin Cabrera and Ima
Tap Water Lookup is built and run by two partners, Martin Cabrera and Ima, who own the project together and both write its code. It is an independent public-information project, not a government agency, water utility or testing laboratory.

Search for a place, find the water systems associated with that area, and follow the records to their sources. County pages bring together EPA drinking-water results, available recent USGS station observations and official testing resources. The atlas explores reported surface-water assessments. These sources answer different questions and are labeled separately.
Water quality cannot be reduced to one score. The pages show the recorded value, unit, date, regulatory or non-regulatory reference, and comparison basis. They do not label a water supply “safe” or “unsafe,” and they do not replace your utility's current Consumer Confidence Report or a test of your own tap.
Where the information comes from
The drinking-water pages combine EPA's UCMR 5 occurrence data, SDWIS records distributed through ECHO, EPA public-water-system service areas, and Census geographic records. USGS provides station observations; EPA ATTAINS provides surface-water assessments. Local resource descriptions link to the named public agency or utility. Tap Water Lookup is not affiliated with or endorsed by these organizations.
Source dates remain attached to the data. Fetching a record today does not make its sample recent. A county, stream or utility record also cannot establish the condition of every household's water.
How the pages are prepared
Software organizes the public records and generates local pages from a shared methodology. Before publication, automated checks compare displayed measurements with the database and check units, geographic relationships and links. Local testing descriptions are checked against their linked official pages; each entry shows a source-review date. These checks are not independent laboratory testing or a professional review of individual health or legal circumstances.

Help us correct the record
If a service has changed, a source link is broken or a page appears to misstate a record, email martincabrera@neuraorkesta.com. Include the page URL, the item that needs correcting and the official source if you have one. Please leave out private account numbers or sensitive personal information. Past corrections are listed in the corrections log.
Community questions and replies are contributions from their authors. They are separate from the site's sourced records and do not establish the accuracy of a water-quality claim.
